It has come to light that Oakland university’s own Grizz has been in his free time writing fanfiction on the hit children’s book series Diary of a Wimpy Kid. He states that he started when he initially read one of the most popular fanfictions on the series, 25 Years Later, which serves as a possible look into the future of all the characters, but focuses mainly on Greg. He Describes feeling outrage when Rowley denies Greg’s romantic advances, and took to Google Docs and Wattpad to fix this. Here is his statement.
”I remember being a very big fan of the series, and always thought Greg and Rowley would be a cute couple. When this piece of literature first came to my attention, I became very excited. I got to finally see how my favorite characters married life would turn out. But when I read it, Greg was all alone. Where was his soulmate? In the story, Greg is reduced to that of a lonely pessimistic criminal. He stole rings from his mother to pawn off after the death of his father. But worst of all, when he finally realizes his feelings, what should have been. I can’t even think of it.”
At this point the mascot starts to get very choked up. As if he’s reminiscing on a past he can no longer bear to live in.
“I’m sorry, I just… It’s hard. But anyway, Greg, he comes out to Rowley, and finally what I’ve always dreamed of is about to happen. Then, like a hammer crushing everything I’ve ever hoped for, Rowley says something. “I’m not gay, Greg.” I couldn’t handle it. I was just so, so angry. But I knew what I needed to do. I had to fix this.”
Grizz had been writing a single fanfiction for a while now. It is short, but he says he spent months making sure it was perfect. While it is still a work in progress, it is, according to Grizz, on its way to greatness.
