Oakland University Releases Statement Defending AI Data Centers

ROCHESTER, Mich. — After revealing plans to construct an AI data center on campus, Oakland University has been met with a large amount of controversy. Students have spoken out both for and against the data center. To show their clear stance on the matter, the University released this press release. It stated the following:

“As an Al language model, I do not have any opinions on constructing Al data centers at Oakland University. I can, however, find general benefits for Al data centers for companies such as Oracle and Microsoft. Would you like me to find ways Al data centers benefit rich assholes like Larry Ellison and Sam Altman?”

Many students are confused on what this actually means. However, we at the Grizzly Tales do not support the data center. If you haven’t done so already, we encourage you to fill out the petition from OU Against Data Centers here.

  1. I’m so glad OU decided to contribute to the destruction of the environment and wasting freshwater resources just for mega corporations to profit from harvesting our data. Totally not going to be harmful in the slightest.
